MARATEA
Maratea, the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea,” is nestled in the Gulf of Policastro, a place with diverse landscapes where the blue sea and the green Mediterranean vegetation meet the rocky cliffs, surrounding the splendid beaches of the coastal towns of Acquafredda, Cersuta, Fiumicello, Porto, Marina, and Castrocucco.
The coastline, dotted with rocks and islets offshore, extends for 32 km, encompassing 21 coves and beaches. It’s no coincidence that Maratea annually receives prestigious environmental awards, such as the “Blue Flag,” the “5 Sails of Legambiente,” and the “Green Flag for Children.”
The Christ the Redeemer statue, from atop Mount San Biagio, home to the Basilica of the same name, overlooks the historic center of Maratea. Art, culture, food and wine, and the opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports such as trekking, coastal kayaking, horseback riding, paragliding, and more will enhance your stay in this corner of paradise.
